As an efficient, reliable, and intelligent valve equipment, the top driven integrated valve is becoming an indispensable and important component of modern industry due to its unique technical characteristics and wide application fields. In the future, with the continuous advancement of technology and the growth of market demand, top drive integrated valves will play an important role in more fields, injecting new vitality into industrial development.

The top driven integrated valve adopts high-quality materials and advanced manufacturing processes, with characteristics of corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and high pressure resistance, and can operate stably for a long time under harsh working conditions. In addition, its modular design facilitates fault diagnosis and maintenance, further enhancing the reliability of the equipment.

What are the common faults and solutions of the top drive integrated valve?

1、 Sealing leakage

Fault manifestation: After the valve is closed, there is fluid (such as drilling fluid, natural gas) leaking out from the interface or inside the valve body.

Possible reasons:

Wear or aging of seals: Under long-term high-pressure and high-temperature conditions, seals such as sealing rings and sealing rings may wear or experience a decrease in elasticity.

Valve body or valve seat damage: Scratches, corrosion or erosion marks on the surface of the valve body or valve seat, resulting in poor sealing surface adhesion.

Improper installation: Misalignment of sealing components, uneven tightening torque of bolts, or misalignment of connecting threads leading to compression deformation of the sealing surface.

Influence of medium impurities: Solid particles in drilling fluid enter the sealing surface, causing scratches or embedding impurities on the sealing surface.

resolvent:

Replace seals: Regularly check the condition of seals and replace them with suitable materials such as rubber or polytetrafluoroethylene if wear or aging is found.

Repair or replace valve body/seat: Grind and polish the slightly damaged sealing surface for repair; If the damage is severe (such as deep scratches, penetrating corrosion), the valve body or seat assembly needs to be replaced as a whole.

Standardized installation operation: Ensure that the sealing components are in the correct position during installation, use a torque wrench to evenly tighten the bolts to the standard torque, and check if the threaded connections are aligned.

Filter medium: Install a filter device at the fluid inlet end to reduce impurities from entering the valve interior, and regularly clean the particle impurities deposited in the valve body cavity.

2、 Difficulty or blockage in valve opening and closing

Fault manifestation: Excessive resistance when manually operating knobs or actuators, unable to open and close valves normally, or slow or stuck action of electric/hydraulic actuators.

Possible reasons:

Ball valve or valve stem blockage: Impurities (such as rust, welding slag, drilling fluid sediment) accumulate in the inner cavity of the valve body, causing the ball valve or valve stem to get stuck; The valve stem and packing box are too tight or rusted.

Execution mechanism malfunction: worn polygonal hole of manual knob, loose transmission components; Motor failure, hydraulic circuit blockage, and pneumatic component leakage in electric/hydraulic actuators.

Temperature or pressure effects: The expansion of the valve body at high temperatures leads to a decrease in component clearance, or the ball valve is deformed under pressure under high pressure conditions, increasing motion resistance.

Insufficient lubrication: Lubricating grease on moving parts such as valve stem and ball valve shaft is dry or missing, resulting in increased frictional resistance.

resolvent:

Cleaning the interior of the valve body: Disassemble the valve, remove impurities, rust, and deposits from the inner cavity, check whether the ball valve and valve stem move flexibly, and grind or replace them if necessary.

Maintenance execution mechanism:

Manual type: repair or replace worn knobs and transmission keys, tighten loose parts.

Electric/hydraulic/pneumatic type: Check the working status of the motor, hydraulic pump, and pneumatic valve, clear the oil or air circuit, replace damaged seals, and replenish hydraulic oil or compressed air.

Optimize working condition adaptability: For high temperature and high pressure scenarios, choose high-temperature resistant sealing materials (such as metal bellows seals) or increase the clearance design of valve body components, regularly monitor working condition parameters and adjust them.

Supplementary lubrication: Add suitable lubricating grease (such as high-temperature anti-wear grease) to the moving parts, maintain them regularly, and prevent lubrication failure.

3、 Flow regulation failure or instability

Fault manifestation: The flow rate cannot reach the expected level after the valve is opened, or the flow rate fluctuates abnormally when adjusting the ball valve angle.

Possible reasons:

Ball valve wear or deformation: After long-term use, the surface of the ball valve wears and the cross-sectional area of the channel changes; Under high pressure, the ball of the ball valve deforms, resulting in a decrease in adjustment accuracy.

Inaccurate positioning of the actuator: The stroke control device (such as limit switch, encoder) of the electric/hydraulic actuator is malfunctioning and cannot accurately feedback the opening of the ball valve.

Abnormal fluid parameters: changes in medium viscosity, presence of bubbles or solid particles, affecting flow stability.

resolvent:

Replace ball valve components: Check the degree of wear on the ball valve. If the channel is severely worn or deformed, a new ball valve (such as a hardened stainless steel or ceramic ball) needs to be replaced.

Calibrate the actuator: Re debug the stroke control device of the actuator to ensure that the ball valve opening is consistent with the control system instructions, and replace the faulty sensor or controller if necessary.

Stable fluid parameters: Optimize drilling fluid formulation to reduce bubble and solid content; Install a stabilizing device upstream of the valve to reduce the impact of fluid fluctuations on regulation accuracy.

Top driven integrated valve is a valve device that highly integrates the driving device with the valve body. Compared with traditional valves, its biggest feature is that the driving mechanism (such as electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic driving devices) is directly installed on the top of the valve, achieving more efficient control and operation through integrated design. This design not only simplifies the installation process, but also improves the overall performance of the equipment, making it suitable for high-precision and high demand industrial scenarios.

In the field of oil and gas exploration and development, top driven integrated valves are widely used on various types of drilling platforms and rigs, such as land drilling rigs, offshore drilling platforms, etc., to control the circulation of drilling fluid, pressure control at the wellhead, and well control operations. They are one of the key components in oil drilling equipment.
